Starting off with a loose sketch to map out the features and shapes.
Blocking in the skin tones and figuring out the light source.
Adding depth and texture, starting to bring the form to life with rough brushwork.
I started this piece with a simple sketch and built it up step by step, adding skin tones, shadows, and light as I went. I wanted to keep the brushstrokes visible, especially in the hair and the apple, to give it more texture and life. It's not about making everything look perfect, but more about capturing a feeling. Sometimes the rougher marks say more than a super smooth finish ever could.
